Gauge: We think 23 - 24 sts per 10 cm makes a lovely stockinette fabric. It is possible to achieve quite a wide range of gauges with this yarn. If you’re using a different yarn than the one specified in a pattern, it’s a good idea to compare the meterage. As a rule of thumb, if your yarn differs by no more than 25 metres per 100g from the recommended yarn, you should be able to achieve the correct gauge without any issues.

Needle size: We recommend 3.5 – 4 mm needles for this yarn, depending on your personal gauge and the look you wish to achieve.

Colour blending: At John Arbon Textiles, our yarns begin as solid-coloured tops (aligned fibres) that are blended together according to our carefully developed recipes. If you take a closer look at any of our yarns, you’ll notice that each heathered shade is made up of many different underlying tones. This gives each shade greater depth and visual interest.

Worsted Spun: John Arbon Textiles is a worsted-spun woollen mill. This means the fibres are aligned parallel to one another, resulting in a yarn with more drape, strength, and softness than a woollen-spun equivalent.

Non-superwash: Our yarn is not superwash-treated.

Fibre characteristics

Falklands Corriedale: This fibre has a long staple length, a smooth handle with a subtle lustre, and plenty of bounce. The breed is the result of crossing Merino sheep with Lincoln Longwool.

Mulberry Silk: Produced by the Bombyx mori, this fibre has an exceptionally fine micron count, making it very soft and highly lustrous. It adds drape, strength, and shine to our yarn.

Care instructions

Our yarns are steamed after being spun. This makes them bloom. Once your knitted piece is finished, we do recommend wet blocking the piece to the given dimensions. This will set all your stitches and guarantee that your garment looks its best.
