Notturno is the Italian word for a nocturne, a piece of evening music that is elegant and understated but still holds your attention.

This sweater is inspired by the colour combination of two Artisan Fibres yarns: the moody Mulberry Dusk and the bright Lilly Pilly. The body is simple in the darker shade, while the wide V-neckband, cuffs, and hem feature intricate colourwork bands in both colours.

It's a top-down seamless design with a set-in sleeve and a European shoulder worked simultaneously. Bust dart and waist shaping options are built in so you can tailor the fit. The colourwork bands use Ladderback jacquard to manage the floats and the construction teaches you Japanese short rows along with some interesting finishing techniques.

This is an intermediate pattern, designed in collaboration with Fruity Knitting for our Austrian Alps Knitting Retreat. A great project for building confidence with Ladderback jacquard in a real garment rather than just a swatch.

This pattern is coming out on 4 November 2026 and will be available for purchase via Ravelry and zaneteknits.com.

Yarn Characteristics

Weight: Sport: 150m per 50g /164yds per 50g

Blend: 90% Falklands Corriedale / 10% Mulberry Silk

Falklands Corriedale: This fibre has a good long staple length, is smooth with a hint of lustre and oodles of bounce. The breed is derived from a cross of the Merino sheep and Lincoln Longwool.

Mulberry Silk: This fibre is produced by the Bombyx silk moth. It has the lowest micron count of any natural fibre making it incredibly soft and extremely lustrous. When added to a blend it gives the fibre a phenomenal drape, durability and shine.

Care instructions

Our yarns are steamed after being spun. This makes them bloom. Once your knitted piece is finished, we do recommend wet blocking the piece to the given dimensions. This will set all your stitches and guarantee that your garment looks its best.

Hand-wash only.
